After taking a gap year following school, Will was drawn to the idea of hands-on work and the satisfaction of seeing the product of his labour, so began a construction apprenticeship. He's the youngest member of our team and has been with Eye For Detail for two years. Will has a growing appreciation for traditional techniques, with a particular fondness for the hand plane—valuing the control, precision, and finish it brings to the work. In the 2026 NZCB Apprenticeship Challenge, Will achieved a commendable third place in the Auckland regional heat. His advice to other apprentices reflects the discipline we value: get everything ready before you start the task.
